09 - Sample RP post = Castella "Cat" Havelock frowned towards the sight of sudden bright flashes in the distant, which came shortly before the light rumble of thunder. All throughout the day it had rained sporadically. It had been light thus far, but now a storm seemed to be brewing. At least their shift was nearly over. There had been something wrong about the flashes, though, and she quickly realized the grim truth the more she thought about it - that had not been lightning in the distance. As soon as she reached this conclusion, sounds overhead confirmed her fears, as artillery whistled to the earth above them. "Shit," she cursed, then announced loudly to anyone not bright enough to realize they were being shelled, "Get down!" She did as she had commanded the others, pulling down a guardsman next to her as she did so.

Castella "Cat" Havelock waited a few moments before she stood once more, after she shelling had come to a halt. There didn't seem to be any casualties, yet, and if there were, they had to be minimal. The artillery barrage had been to soften them up a bit before -- all at once, the brief period of calm was broken by the sounds of the thick forest ahead bursting with the innumerable forces of the arch enemy; it was much larger than the force that had attacked a few days earlier. There had to be as many as one thousand of the lost and the damned rushing forth towards the front lines, and their battle cries were defeaning. They seemed to be carrying weapons without a standardized arsenal. Some had las weapons, some carried autoguns, some waved swords and some brandished spears and axes. "Open fire!" Cat called down the line, even though the orders struck her as reduntant, in charge by tone alone. Others were not armed at all, and there was a number of forces beating forceful beats on ghastly drums.

Castella "Cat" Havelock took aim herself and blew a hole through a heretic waving a banner embroidered with various heretical symbols. There were many like him. This looked to be the attack they had all been waiting for.
