| I'm sure everyone has heard of this at one point or another, but since we're posting the tiny sub-plots here I figured I might as well throw this one on.
Tarek is allocating all of his spare time in an effort to complete a project he has been working on since day one of his life on board the Horizon. He has a theory that using a small warp pulse generated for a fraction of a second by a miniature nacelle on a photon torpedo would allow it to warp through the shields of another vessel and then explode on contact with the interior. He has yet to construct the life sized model, although his research, schematics, and tiny clay model of the torpedo are all now completed. All that remains are simulations to be performed on the holodeck, and then the construction of an actual prototype. He is extremely fond of this activity and works on it even during his duty hours.

| So, this thread is to see how many confusing engineering terms you can fit in one sentence? Tarek. You hurt my brain. It's pulsing with confusion right now. D: I dunno what Tarek is doing. But as long as he enjoys it and he's good at it, you do that! | |

| Thank...you?
Allow me to layman the previous post for you then.
I'm making a (bomb) that moves (really really fast) so it can go through the shields of another ship. This way we can more easily (blow mean people up)

| Lol, duly noted ^^. Anywho, to say the least the results produced by my little toy could very well save lives at some point in the future, which is precisely why my character has set about the work required to make a safe, working one, which has also been my excuse for what I've been doing since little to nothing is happening. | |

| Guess so, it's time to make an assembly line or something. I hope you don't plan on using many of these, Des. | |

| (SPAM ALERT) anyway, I think a safe-to-say amount of trans-warp torpedoes that I'd be making ICly is like, 10, for starters. use them wisely. Very wisely. Evidently we'll be doing more war than exploration and diplomacy, so yeah. My torpedoes are not your toys | |

| [lol, it's great you guys are posting a lot, however let's try to remember these ARE ic boards. keep the information about Tarek's activities here, but ooc discussions about the torpedoes should be taken elsewhere. also, if you DO post ooc information like clarification, please put it in brackets in an ic board. thanks <3] | |

| [[Ok, you'll have to excuse me if I'm a little confused. As far as cannon shows no one in starfleet was anywhere near capable of transwarp speed. Hell, Janeway had a recurring joke in Voyager about rumors spreading at warp 10(supposed infinite velocity which we all know isn't true). There were however here and there captured transwarp coils(again, blame voyager). But in terms of TNG there's no way I can see someone suddenly going: "BOOM: I discovered how to make a transwarp conduit." I don't mean to offend anyone, I'm just confused as to how your character would even come close to the technology. Or...are these torpedos mislabeled? And just as proof that I'm not just being a apphole. I brought proof of wtf I'm talking about.
The Federation also attempted to develop a transwarp drive controlled by a transwarp computer in the USS Excelsior in 2285, termed "The Great Experiment". However, the effort was ultimately unsuccessful in achieving infinite velocity. (Star Trek III: The Search for Spock) In 2374, the USS Defiant studied a rare subspace compression anomaly in the hopes of collecting data relevant to the development of transwarp corridors. (DS9: "One Little Ship")
In 2372, Tom Paris of the USS Voyager managed to break the transwarp threshold in the shuttlecraft Cochrane, after discovering a new form of dilithium. Although this form of travel was found to have severe, unanticipated side effects, Mr. Paris was the first person in Starfleet to cross the transwarp threshold. (VOY: "Threshold")]]

| [if I understand correctly, these are not transwarp torpedoes, just warp torpedos. yes? however, as this is not the place to discuss it, please speak to me or Des or Karl if you ahve any questions or concerns] | |

| [Ahem. To clarify this doesn't mean slipstream speed torpedoes, it means the ship transfers warp to a torpedo long enough for it to hit warp velocity and speed through the shields of an opposing vessel] | |
